Tallahassee Night Life Pt.1
Tally is full of surprises if you know where to look. Don't come here comparing it to larger cities, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. Tallahassee may be small but there's always something to do, pregame hard and appreciate the Tallanasty ways.

I'd like to start this off with a moment of silence. Let’s take a moment to appreciate Coli one last time. I used to shit about this club, but I never realized how much of an impact it had on the community. You walk into a giant hole of lights, $10 champagne bottles, the AC on full blast and hundreds of drunk college students. Coli was the club everyone went to celebrate, get wasted and make new friends in the bathroom. I remember going there and getting lost because of how big it was, I’m 5 feet tall but still, coli was huge. To this day, my girlfriends and I reminisce on the wild nights there, RIP to the place to get ratchet with no shame.
Midtown AKA the old people bars- composed of around 4 bars, each one has a different vibe. You could go from Fox & Stag a chill cozy bar, to travel back in time at Fire Betty’s arcade themed bar, to Finnegan’s wake Irish Pub, drink like an Irish, then dance the night away at Fifth & Thomas were you’re sure to get every genre of music or a live band. You'll probably see someones mom and dad there, maybe even your boss so act accordingly.

Fermentation Lounge- nestled inside the corner of a hipster community, this place is one of my favorite bars in Tally. They have all types of beers, bar food, trivia games, board games and sometimes live music. The atmosphere is casual with everyone in their own little bubble.

Cancun’s Sports Bar and Grill- I call this place a shoe box because that’s basically what it is. The dance floor is almost non-existent, there’s an outside patio with a decent number of tables and the music is actually pretty good. I’ve had a good time the few times I’ve gone, but It’s not my first choice. If you’re under 21 this is one of the places you’re allowed to enter regardless of the time. Oh, and the parking lot is the worst in all of Tallahassee, pot holes every 2 seconds, mud everywhere, in my 4 years here it’s never improved

The Palace Saloon Bar- walking in you get hit with a heavy smell of cigarettes and beer. There’s pool tables, darts and other games to play with friends. My experience here was always positive except for the time I got sick from the smell (I swear this place gave me a cold) one of the unique things about the Palace is their sake, a Japanese rice wine. I believe that’s the only liquor they’re allowed to sell. The ceiling in this place is decorated with hand painted tiles, if you want to leave a lasting mark in Tallahassee purchase a tile and get to work.

The Strip- a strip of bars and clubs notorious among the younger crowd. To be honest I came here a few times over the summer and was disgusted, I see why Tallanasty is a real term. The music is EDM, Techno, Rap and random oldies. It’s not my scene but I believe everyone should experience it for themselves, if you’re under 21 the strip is your best friend.

Specials
White Trash Wednesdays at the strip- over the summer every Wednesday this Florida State Tradition comes around. The name says it all, you go to the strip to get trashed while wearing something that screams MERICA! The most common things you see are overalls, something with the American flag, camo, white t-shirts and half clothed students. WTW is definitely a must for every FSU student.

Proof Brewery: If you’re not over 21 stop reading. Proof brags about brewing their own beer and if that’s not your thing try their sangria. The atmosphere is welcoming and exciting, definitely a place to drink if you appreciate the craft.
